Business Systems Integration Specialist | CRM + Finance Automation

Wendy Teo

About Me

10+ years in finance operations (accounts receivable, credit control, quote-to-cash workflows at IBM, Samsung, Hanson, Link Group) taught me where business systems break. Now I fix them through API integration and automation.

Since 2023, I've specialized in connecting CRM platforms (e.g. HubSpot) and finance systems to eliminate manual data entry, automate workflows, and reduce operational friction. Recent work includes custom quote generation systems with CRM integration and multi-system fulfillment automation for e-commerce operations.

My finance background means I understand your pain points before you explain them. I've lived the inefficiencies. The same bottlenecks, the manual processes, the system gaps... Issues that slow down your team. Now, I solve them.

My technical focus lies in HubSpot API, Shopify integrations, custom middleware, and business process automation.

Originally from Malaysia, now based in Sydney. I am multilingual (English, Malay, Mandarin, Hokkien), handling multiple clients across APAC.

    Finance & Accounts Receivables Roles

    Before 2023
    +

Accumulated 10 years of experience in accounts receivables and financial operations across IBM, Samsung Electronics, Hanson Constructions & Link Group. During this time, I received multiple Employee of the Month awards, broke company collection records, and contributed to improving AR collection systems from the user perspective; identifying workflow inefficiencies and advocating for process improvements.

This hands-on experience managing quote-to-cash workflows, credit control, and financial operations now informs my approach to building CRM integrations and business automation systems. I understand the pain points, bottlenecks, and user needs because I've lived them, which allows me to create solutions that genuinely improve how teams work, not just add technology for technology's sake.

        How I Work

        Discovery & Planning

Understanding your operational pain points and system architecture. I map existing workflows, identify integration points, and document technical requirements for connecting your CRM, finance, and operations systems. This phase ensures the automation actually solves your business problems, not just adds complexity.

        Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Business Systems Integration Specialist?

        +

A Business Systems Integration Specialist connects a company's CRM, finance, e-commerce, and operational software so data flows automatically between them. Unlike a general developer, the role focuses on workflow design, API integration, and process automation rather than building user-facing applications. The work eliminates manual data entry, reduces errors, and gives teams real-time visibility across systems.

What does a typical CRM integration project involve?

          +

A CRM integration project usually involves three phases: mapping the existing workflow and identifying integration points, building the API connections between the CRM and external systems (finance software, e-commerce platforms, custom databases), and validating the data flow under production conditions. Most projects take four to eight weeks depending on complexity. Common integrations include quote-to-cash automation, custom CRM objects, and finance system synchronisation.

How is a freelance Business Systems Integration Specialist different from an agency?

            +

A typical marketing or CRM agency operates with a team across multiple accounts and charges retainer fees starting at AUD$3,000+ per month. A freelance specialist works directly with the client, delivers fixed-scope projects without team overhead, and brings deeper domain knowledge in a specific area. Freelancers suit SMEs who need targeted integration work rather than ongoing marketing support.

              How is integration work priced?

              +

Most projects are quoted as fixed-scope engagements after an initial discovery session, with pricing based on the number of systems being connected, data complexity, and required business logic. Ongoing maintenance and feature additions are billed separately. Hourly billing is avoided for integration work because it incentivises slow delivery over clean architecture.

Do you work with businesses outside Sydney?

                +

Yes. While based in Sydney, the work is delivered remotely across Australia and the wider APAC region. Multilingual support (English, Malay, Mandarin, Hokkien) extends to clients with operations in Malaysia, Singapore, and Greater China. On-site visits within Sydney are available when needed.
